If you’re looking for a fun, social, and active way to spend your morning in Lake Havasu City, let me introduce you to one of my favorite local gems—Pickleball at Dick Samp Park! Tucked into the north side of town, Dick Samp Memorial Park oDers 16 beautiful outdoor pickleball courts that are completely free and open to the public. Whether you’re a seasoned player or brand new to the game, this spot is a welcoming haven for all skill levels.
What makes this place extra special? The people! There’s an awesome sense of community here. Most mornings, you’ll find a fun, friendly group of players rotating in and out of casual games. It’s competitive enough to keep you on your toes but lighthearted enough that laughter and connection are just part of the game. If you’re new, don’t worry— someone will always help you get into a game, explain the basics, or even lend you a paddle.
During the cooler months, the local Pickleball Association hosts round-robin events for members. These events are a great way to meet more players, enjoy friendly competition, and support a good cause. There’s a small fee to participate, and the proceeds sometimes go toward local charities or help fund improvements to the park.
If you want to get even more involved, joining the Pickleball Association is encouraged! For just a small fee of $25 a year, you’ll get access to special events and help support the maintenance of the courts. It’s a great way to ensure the community can continue enjoying the sport for years.
And, of course, don’t miss the annual PickleFest Tournament held every February! This high-energy event draws players and spectators from all over. Whether you’re competing or just enjoying the excitement from the sidelines, it’s a great way to soak in the pickleball spirit of Lake Havasu.
